Delivery
The Team Leaders’ Toolkit can be delivered in a variety of ways. Whichever is chosen, it is expected that a senior member at the candidates’ school is nominated as their validator and confirms that their work meets the school’s standards. Once the candidates’ work has been validated by their school, certification and accreditation is available from the
Cambridge Institute of Technology (INTEC) and/or from
CACHE (see below) for a small extra charge. Please call INTEC on 01223 224929 to find out more.
Two suggested approaches to delivering the material are provided below:
Local authorities: Two-day course
The Validating Support Staff Team Leaders course is designed to support a local authority’s programme of continuing professional development for more advanced support staff in schools across the authority. It is delivered over two days (with at least a month between each day) and contains a mixture of face-to-face delivery and self-study. It uses the Team Leaders’ Toolkit as course material.
Candidates are guided to complete at least the five mandatory units (the Management Skills part of the Team Leaders’ Toolkit). Candidates also have to create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their skills and experience in line management/team leadership.
Schools: Professional development through INSET
The Team Leaders’ Toolkit can be used for:
- Self-study – A candidate can work through all the material provided in the Team Leaders’ Toolkit in their own time.
- Group INSET – The Team Leaders’ Toolkit can form the basis of a course to be delivered to a group of support staff team leaders/line managers during school INSET. The INSET could be delivered by a senior member of staff. A suggested plan for INSET is provided in the Team Leaders’ Toolkit.
CACHE accreditation
The material on the Team Leaders’ Toolkit can be used for the Validating Support Staff Team Leaders course. The course is a CACHE Endorsed Learning Programme, through which participants can gain a Level 3 or Level 4 award.
