The Team Leaders’ Toolkit provides guidance and assessment for support staff team leaders/line managers as follows:

- Delegating – Understanding what staff do.
- Motivating – Helping staff to succeed.
- Training – Developing staff skills.
Dealing With Staff
- Appointing – Organising staff recruitment.
- Reviewing – Running performance management.
- Issues – Dealing with less effective staff.
Assessment
The Team Leaders’ Toolkit includes assessment to be used for staff professional development. This takes the form of:
- Tests – Multiple-choice questions to assess the candidate’s knowledge of best practice in line management.
- Personal skills reviews – A self-evaluation of the candidate’s confidence in the skills and knowledge needed to line manage staff effectively.
- Activities – A practical activity on each of the topics listed above, for inclusion in a portfolio of evidence.
Format
The Team Leaders’ Toolkit carries a full site licence, so that all the material can be shared amongst appropriate staff throughout the school. It is provided on a single CD-ROM and can easily and quickly be copied onto a school’s network. The resource includes a number of digital files in convenient formats which can be viewed onscreen or printed out.
